Still Here

Eventually, the pressure lifts because the people pushed back. The countermovement worked. The structures didn’t disappear, but they lost their grip. People move differently again: with more empathy, more sympathy for the other.

There’s no celebration in that, because it was never a battle. For most people it was just common sense, and winning looks like exhaustion. Keep fighting the good fight.
