Compartmentalization poster
My entry for the 2017 national poster competition for art school students. The theme was compartmentalization and the human tendency to label and categorize.
The poster examines how prejudice is woven into Dutch culture. Orange, red, white and blue reference the national flag and colors. A wordplay on prejudice is hidden in the design and has to be searched for, mirroring the way people rarely admit their biases out loud.
I researched common stereotypes in Dutch society and selected three recurring assumptions. By mixing them together the poster exposes how interchangeable and arbitrary these preconceptions really are.
